Chilham Park Events

Stuart and Tessa Wheeler have been the owners of Chilham Castle Estate since 2002; Chilham Castle is a Jacobean house built in 1616 on the site of an ancient castle. Stuart and Tessa knew they wanted to establish an equestrian centre within the grounds and now Chilham Park Equestrian Centre is a well-established cross country and event venue.

Shortlisted as one of the training grounds for the 2012 Olympics, Chilham's professional cross country course has been built within the 18th century park. Working alongside British Eventing, Chilham strive to provide the best facilities for both competitors and visitors throughout the season, particularly at the annual premier event, the Chilham Castle Park Horse Trials in August.

Working with a dedicated team of professional, Tessa is proud that: “We are committed to providing excellence and to develop Chilham Park Equestrian Centre with innovative ideas. For 2010 we are building new Novice and Training courses and the centre’s main event can therefore be extended to run over two days.“ Throughout the year, Chilham Park run many successful events as well as workshops with world-class trainers such as Olympian Mary King. The Centre has an active website which provides up-to-date details on competitions for riders.

As well as equestrian events, Chilham Castle Gardens are open to the public on a regular basis during the summer. The Castle, both house and gardens, are occasionally available for private functions. There is a special rate available for Chilham Park Sponsors.
